Monday Night Club (MNC) Every month ,on the second Monday of the month, divers gather at the Huntsville location of Southeastern Divers to socialize and swap stories. (No tall tales allowed of course.) We have refreshments and talk about dives made and dives to be made. We watch videos and slides from previous trips. We look at new dive gear and make wish lists. In other words we do all the things any diver would enjoy doing. We think you'll enjoy yourself also! Come on out and join us. We begin at 6:00 P.M. at the Huntsville store. This is a very informal "meeting". We are a "club" in name only. Anyone suggesting holding elections for officers or trying to organize a committee to do something will be asked to turn in their c-card and leave. From time to time we may actually have some type of organized program. When that happens it will usually be in the classroom and if it's something that interests you, you may go back to the classroom and check it out. If not, you can just hang out in the store and socialize. See, VERY informal! The Monday Night Club is just a great way to keep in touch and stay up-to-date on what's going on in the wonderful world of diving. Come and join us! Everyone is welcome!
Wednesday Night Boat Dives Yes we dive right here in North Alabama. Contrary to popular myth, you can see in the Tennessee river. Granted there's not 100 feet of visibility 365 days (or even 1 day) of the year, however there are many days when the visibility is actually pretty good. There have been many instances when the visibility in the Tennessee River exceeded what we were getting in the Gulf of Mexico at that time. Diving in the Tennessee River is the classic case of don't knock it till you've tried it. The Tennessee has much to offer. The Tennessee is a natural setting. The Tennessee is a real live, honest to goodness dive site, ever changing and alive with critters and creatures. The Tennessee occasionally awards you with things that have been discarded or lost, by those who have lived, played, and worked on and around the river. If you can only dive in water that is crystal clear you will be disappointed. However if you can accept the Tennessee for what she has to offer, low-vis and all, you can be richly rewarded. Our Wednesday night boat dives provide an opportunity for you to do what all divers love to do. Go diving! You will also meet others who share your love of the underwater world and diving. So, when the weather and water turns warm (around the first of May) come out and join us. Bring something to throw on the grill, your dive gear, and a big smile. We provide the boat ride at no charge. (We're like you, we just want to go diving!) The Wednesday night boat dives have become very popular over the last few years. We recommend that you call the Florence SDI at, 256-766-DIVE, or send an e-mail to [email protected] and reserve a spot on the boat at least 24 hours in advance. |
